This home has been designed with these LEED features:
- Designed to mitigate durability risk for this climate. Risk/problems include but are not limited to pest, moisture, sun, and hurricane/flood. Building features include an all concrete foundation and structure, house envelope is extremely tight with moisture sensors for all interior ventilation, all windows and doors have permanent sunshades/overhangs, and all openings are impact resistant.
- Designed to utilize existing city neighborhoods, infrastructure, amenities, and parks.
- Landscaping includes: No invasive plants, limited the amount of turf 23%, all turf is drought tolerant, 90% native plants used, and 90% drought tolerant plants.
- Very high efficient irrigation was designed in conjunction with the landscape to save 58% water use.
- 100% of the lot was designed to keep water retainage on site.
- Using all energy star appliances and ceiling fans, efficient lighting (no incandescents), and very high efficient air conditioners will lower energy use and save money.
- 83% of all construction waste was recycled.
- AC and ventilation was designed and tested to ensure that it is installed and operating at optimum performance.
- The highest quality filters were used to reduce airborne contaminants.
- 90% of the flooring contains recycled material or is from an environmentally preferable product.
- Natural wool insulation and low VOC insulation was used throughout.
- All countertops have been certified by “Greenguard Indoor Air Quality and Greenguad Children and Schools” and contain low VOC’s. One half of all of the bathroom countertops are 100% reusable/recyclable. All other countertops contain 93% quartz which is an abundant natural resource.
- The window frames contain 64% recycled content and both the glass and frames were made within a 500 mile radius of the house.
